Me neither, plus we had ice cream in our freezer if we wanted it.

But sometimes, you need more than what your kitchen can provide, and I’m not just talking about peanut butter topping, whipped cream and brownie bits to go with your cookie dough.

Pizza and ice cream? What could be better?

There was a line for the pizza at Derosier’s in Freeport, Maine, but that wasn’t our line.

Our line was for the ice cream. They serve sundaes in Chinese take-out containers, and my combo of cookie dough, cookies and cream and deep-dish apple pie (yup, that’s a flavor) with whipped cream, nuts and peanut better was awesome.

The young woman behind the counter could have probably used some help, but she was giving it her all.

But whether Derosier’s is a pizza place that sells ice cream or an ice cream place that sells people, it raises what to me is an obvious question.

An ode to ice cream

The other night, my wife told me that something new was coming to town, and challenged me to guess what it was.

I didn’t have the foggiest idea, so I made a couple joking guesses — I think a baseball stadium may have been one of them — before she revealed it was an ice cream shop in a plaza on the other side of town, about 10 minutes away.

This was good news indeed.
