Just a few more weeks

The day wasn’t as relaxing as I had hoped. Nothing terrible or tragic, just little frustrations that were annoying me.

What to do? How about book a vacation?

We knew when it was going to be (end of the month) and where (Washington, D.C.), but we hadn’t figured out exactly what days in our window we were going, and we hadn’t booked flights or a hotel.

We’re hoping it will be like our trip to Toronto last fall — relatively inexpensive and short flight, a place we like but haven’t been to in years, with some old favorites and hopefully a few new ones. (Suzi has already said she wants to go to the zoo; I sent an inquiry to our member of Congress about a White House tour.)

To be honest, it didn’t do tons to improve my mood, in part because booking the flight was far more complicated than it should have been and I got even more frustrated. (It did pass.)

But I know it will, especially since I have a busy couple weeks coming up at work. It’ll be nice to have that to look forward to on the other side.

Really? Really?

I first heard it when my father-in-law was playing it at near-ear-splitting volume, but a Celine Dion concert special from her “Taking Chances” world tour has been on TV a fair amount lately.

No problem with that. It’s nice to be reminded that her best stuff was phenomenal.

What has me shaking my head was that it’s on TV as the programming between pledge breaks on PBS.

Celine Dion, who I became a fan of while I was in college, is now being used to convince old folks to give money to their local public television station. I believe there was even a tote bag involved.

And then a few nights later, it was Mariah Carey’s 1996 show from the Tokyo Dome.

Since we last saw each other …

Graham took another step in the right direction.

Renata returned, and apparently made an adjustment in her life while she was away.

Savannah marks a year in Milwaukee.

Becky dances while making dinner.

Rosie has plans for the next 10 years.

There’s something weird about Jeff’s ears.

Betsy shows off her negotiating skills.

Austin and I are fighting the same problem. It will never be solved because I don’t think anyone actually wants to solve it.

Aaron did something stupid, and isn’t sure how to fix it.

Vee just wants to travel. I can’t say I blame her.

Cape Cod beaches during the winter are a trip.

I graduated college in 1994, and this is certainly freaky to think about. (It was also mind-bending when my father mentioned that his parents, who both died when I was in college, would be 100 now.)

I don’t do it a lot, but it’s always great when I do!

A fantastic show!

Important to note that he was still attached to the leg.

  1. I aspire to one day take trips somewhat spontaneously like you do, Bill. I’ll be curious to see if you’re able to get that White House tour. “With boy attached,” is great. Ugh, I hate those things that point out how old we are now! The 90s were the best. 30 years?! I can relate to that person. And absolutely to the car rides with loud music. Totally refreshing.
Oh, and that thing about someone named Betsy negotiating something. I enjoyed that one too. 😉

They’re using Celine Dion to convince people to support PBS? Lol, not that I don’t like her, just odd. They had Josh Groban, Daniel O’Donnell and an old Bee Gees concert a few years ago
