Time to make the switch

We turned the heat on.

I’m sure there are people who make it a point to hold out as long as they can, but I have no such pride. It hasn’t been terribly cold lately, but our house doesn’t get a lot of sun, so it never gets warm.

The heater crackled to life and warm air did come out, so that was good. Like anything else, you don’t know how that first pull of the season is going to go.

Which reminds me, I’ll have to mow the lawn soon, not just because the grass is getting long enough for one last cutting, but because if I don’t run all the gas out of the lawnmower, it’ll get all sludgy and make it impossible to start next spring.

I’m fine with waiting a lot longer before the first pass of the snowblower this year.

And since we were putting the heat on, we figured it was as good a time as any to put the fans in the basement, the air conditioners in the TV room and our bedroom having already been removed for the season.

Thus begins another season in the house that will likely last until … let’s see … when does it get sunny and warm enough consistently where we don’t need the heat anymore? Probably May.

Suzi was also inspired to make hot chocolate. I’m a fan.
