The week gone by — July 11

When the Yankees were playing terribly recently, I decided I had to step away for a bit.

It’s not like I was going to choose a new team — even though I live in Massachusetts, I won’t root for the Red Sox if you put a gun to my head — or not check to see if they won each night, but I just wasn’t going to watch for a spell.

I figured it was the best thing to do, as watching their games was literally making me angry, and that was something I didn’t need in my life at that moment.

And they’ve won five out of six games since.

So now what do I do? Once the original anger subsided, I figured I’d always go back at some point, but if they start losing once I do, it’ll be my fault.

Because you must always respect a streak.

WHAT I WROTE

If tribute bands are coming back to town, things must be getting closer to “normal.”

Will I have what it takes to win Paul’s challenge? Will Giggles maintain her hold on the top spot, or will someone else like Bex take the crown? The trash talk has already begun, but only Paul knows.

As a fan of soccer, England and English soccer (and having been to Wembley Stadium), I am fascinated by how the country is basically stopping for this Euro 2020 England-Italy final.

But while lot of people I follow are rooting for England, and I’m rooting for England, I have to show respect to the Italy fans out there.

I’m in no hurry for the fall, but this can’t get here soon enough!

I’m not sure if I had that card, but I remember it.

Sure, I get that going to the airport may want to make you climb up the wall, but I don’t think you’re supposed to literally do it. (And here are some excellent tips on how you should act if you’ve haven’t been in a while.)

    Thanks Bill for including me in the wrap-up and for visiting my Blahg. I really appreciate it. Regarding the streak, I agree you gotta respect it and keep abstaining. Don’t worry the yanks will start to lose again soon enough all on their own. I personally grew up as a Red Sox fan, being from Vermont, but can’t stand them ever since they broke their curse. But I’d rather be team-less or worse, a Mets fan, then go yankee. Haha. Be well, Monty.

    1. Trust me, it was falling apart against the Mets that did it for me! I figure they’ll get back to their mediocre ways sooner rather than later, but I don’t want to be the jinx.

  3. I’m an Orioles fan. I understand the sting from a string of losses. Haha! Unfortunately, they’ve had years of loss strings, so it doesn’t anger me as much as it used to. They’re pretty much a brand new team, though. I have high hopes for their future.

    I look forward to your “week gone by” posts. I find talented bloggers that way! Thank you for sharing.

  4. Ohh, Yankees fan! Okay I’m not into baseball despite my dada being a HUGE Astros and Brewers fan. I don’t know why, it’s just something that evolved over time. I think that kid at the airport will wind up in the hospital because of his unsupervised antics or……someone like me beating the crap out of his parents for not telling him to practice some manners and safety consideration of others. When I mean he’d wind up in the hospital, I mean visiting his parents….😝🤣🤪😂

  6. My husband and I were just talking about Bull Durham this morning. Trippy to see this here. Gotta respect the streak & remember that life is made for those not cursed with self-awareness. Just a few lessons from a great movie.
