Just when you think you’ve heard all the Christmas music

The yelp caused me to bolt off the couch and hurry to the kitchen.

Suzi was making a buche de Noel, the last of her weekly pre-Christmas treats. Even though I had warned her not to expect it to be as effortless or perfect as Mary Berry’s Yule log, the fact of the matter is I’m married to a perfectionist, so I wondered what kind of disaster I was walking into.

It wound up having nothing to do with the baking.

“Amazingly, even though the song has apparently been around for 20 years, neither of us had ever heard it, even when the all-Christmas stations are resorting to seeds and stems right before Christmas.”

We’ve been listening to SiriusXM Jolly a lot, because sometimes we want our Christmas music to actually have a beat.

And when the beat is from the Village People’s “Macho Man,” it will get your attention.

It may even make you gasp while making a buche de Noel.

But wait … there’s more.

As we were processing what we were hearing, the beat changed to another Village People classic — “YMCA.”

“It’s still our favorite night.
N-O-E-L
Santa will make it right.
N-O-E-L
He has everything for you girls and boys.
You can get all your favorite toys.”

Yes, Holiday Express did a mashup of “Macho Man” and “YMCA” and made a Christmas song out of it.

We were more than a little flabbergasted.

Amazingly, even though the song has apparently been around for 20 years, neither of us had ever heard it, even when the all-Christmas stations are resorting to seeds and stems right before Christmas.

But wait … there’s more.

I, of course, had to know about this strange creation, so I looked up “Macho Man Christmas song” on Google.

And I found this.

OOH YEAH!!!

Buche de Noel Yule log

As for the buche de Noel, Suzi being Suzi, she was already trying to figure out ways to make it better the next time — because, you know, the shape was “only” 95 percent perfect — but it tasted damn good, and that’s all I care about.
