Suzi was out with friends, which meant I was on my own for dinner.
I was in the mood for Chinese, and since it was just me, I got all three fortune cookies.
Fortune No. 1: “You are more likely to give than give in.” — This is a nice personality trait, but it’s not a fortune.
Fortune No. 2: “You can do everything you ought to do.” — I’m glad to hear I can do things, but what I “ought” to do? Not “want to do”? Not “everything I ever dreamed of”? I “ought” to load the dishwasher when the sink is full, so I’m glad to know it’s my destiny to do it.
Fortune No. 3: “You have a curious smile and a mysterious nature.” — THIS IS NOT A FORTUNE!!!!
Chinese restaurants need to hire better writers.
STUFF I WROTE THIS WEEK
I have one or two things percolating, but not ready yet, especially since I’m trying to get away from writing just to write (although if I go too long, I get antsy).
So only one new thing this week.
Wherever you’re going, take me with you! — Seeing an airplane overhead had me really wishing I was on one.
THIS WEEK’S BLAST FROM THE PAST
I eat … what I eat — This one’s for all the picky eaters out there.
STUFF I READ THIS WEEK
Bloggers Uncensored: with A Silly Place (Save Haven; Chronicles Of A Creative Mess) — Han had clearly interviewed every other blogger on the internet, so she had a few questions for … well, me.
Adventures in Job hunting: Greg and Craig were impressed (Millennial Life Crisis) — “… in my completely biased opinion, they shouldn’t interview the other two and they should just hire me.” Who wouldn’t want to do that?
A week in photos: Bear on the Road (Sunshine With Savannah) — Savannah and her bear go on an adventure.
The Best Kept Secret (BEXoxoBlog) — It took some good work to pull this off.
Being Afraid to Write (Buffalo Sauce Everywhere) — The perils of wanting to write … and it’s just not there.
HOF Yelling: 2020 Baseball Hall of Fame Inductees (Strikeouts + Sprinkles) —Becky on Derek Jeter and Larry Walker.
The Game Of Life (That NYY Chick) — Fathers, grandfathers, baseball and Derek Jeter.
Resisting Happiness (Rosie Culture) — When you’re your own worst enemy.
Giving Compliments (Lucy Mary) — Did you know National Compliment Day was Jan. 24?
The Girlfriend’s Guide to Gods (Maria Dahvana Headley for tor.com) — “Gods won’t save you. Gods will break you. Nevertheless, you will persist, and become anew.”
TWEETS I LIKED
Nope, nothing better.
Our Egyptian king. I think he works out.
So bad, it’s good.
Sometimes you need brawn. Other times, you need brains.
This is why people on the window shouldn’t be allowed to put the shades down.
And I thought I took things literally …
That’s not my dinner in the photo. It’s a picture by jonathanvalencia5 on Pixabay.
Thanks as always, my friend! I absolutely loved your commentary on fortune cookie fortunes 🤣🤣

Thank you! I don’t get Chinese food that often these days, but having three of them so odd just struck me funny!

Thanks again for the tip of the hat. I too had Chinese recently and happened to receive a fortune that read “Redecorating is in your future” a mere moments before working on a large redecorating project. Too weird.

That’s pretty spooky!
By the way, do you or your blog have a Twitter? (Or, another way, do you have one that I once had and forgot?) Whenever I cite a blog, I like to include their Twitter when I post about it so people can see who they are, but I haven’t been able to find/don’t remember one for you.

I am not on Twitter. Never have been… guess I don’t find myself witty enough. It’s just my blog and I have a personal Facebook. That’s it. 🙂

OK, so I’m not missing anything. Just wanted to make sure. 🙂
