Soggy Sunday

It’s cold.

It’s rainy.

The wind has blown more of the leaves off the trees.

It’s the kind of gloom outside that makes everything feel gloomy inside.

Oh well. Write it off. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

We’ve had a pretty good run of weather lately, especially for late October. The mornings have been made for hoodies, but once the sun comes out, things have been pretty pleasant.

At this time of year, you can’t take it for granted. Even if it’s not unusual to be able to do stuff outdoors until November, you’re also never that far from a cruddy day.

The other thing that’s happening is it’s getting dark noticeably earlier, and it’s only going to get worse.

Daylight Saving Time in the U.S. ends next Sunday, meaning the sun will rise an hour earlier, but also set an hour earlier.

It’s not a trade I care for. I couldn’t care less whether I wake up in the dark, but sunset at 4 p.m. is just depressing.

OK, that’s enough gloom and doom for one day.
