We all have our moments where we lose our hats on our heads, our glasses on our noses, our wallets in our pants.
Here’s another one for you.
I have weekly Sunday calls with my parents and grandmother in New York. It’s normally in the evening, but since I’m going to be out tonight, I called this morning.
I was also going to play pickleball once I was done, so I was going through my mental checklist of what I needed: bag, paddle, wallet, water bottle downstairs, phone … .
I didn’t know where my phone was. I looked for it for about 30 seconds, then said to my mom, “You want to hear something funny?”
Once she realized what I was saying — that I lost my phone while I was using it — she said it gets worse as you get older.
So I have that to look forward to.
P.S. My college roommate reminds me that I once referred to “the Billy Crystal character in ‘When Harry Met Sally,’” which was only my favorite movie at the time. So this is nothing new.
P.P.S. And leaving the house just now, I didn’t bring my keys, which is no biggie except the doors are all locked. (I used a spare.) So clearly the derp is strong today.
